FAQ & How to Prepare
How to Prepare
- Wear exercise-appropriate clothing as you may need to perform functional and/or fitness testing.
- Bring your prescription glasses/back up glasses/safety glasses (if worn). Please bring a spare pair of contact lenses as we may need to remove contact lenses to test unaided vision.
- Photo ID must be shown at the time of your assessment.(Failure to produce adequate identification may result in parts of your assessment being reported as invalid, requiring them to be redone.)
- Bring information of any prescription Medication you are currently taking.
- Bring your hearing aids if worn
- You are required to arrive 20 minutes before your appointment time. Late Arrivals will only be seen at clinic discretion. (This does not apply to walk in appointments).
- Unwell – if you present to the clinic with viral illness or other symptoms that may impact the safety and comfort of others, the appointment may be cancelled, and a cancellation fee will apply. Please call to reschedule if you have symptoms, please note our late reschedule policy for further information.
Known Medical Conditions
If you have been told by your potential employer or Logic Health that you are required to complete specific tests, please see more information about the most common tests that may/may not relate to your appointment. Your confirmation email outlines the tests applicable to you:
- Diagnosis and date of onset.
- Confirms you are being treated for the condition (provide management plan).
- Confirms condition is under control (provide pathology results if applicable).
- Medication you are currently taking and potential side effects
- Outlines any restrictions that may impact your ability to work.
- Failure to provide this information will result in a delay in the completion of your medical. Please ensure the GP letter is dated within 3 months of this medical.
- Logic Health may terminate components of the medical, at any time, if a medical condition or illness is deemed a risk to a candidate’s health. This will incur a Did Not Complete charge.
Specific Components
If you have been told by your potential employer or Logic Health that you are required to complete specific tests, please see more information about the most common tests that may/may not relate to your appointment. Your confirmation email outlines the tests applicable to you:
- Spirometry: No smoking 1 hour prior to assessment / if you are asthmatic bring your inhaler/puffer with you. If appropriate, stop taking long acting inhalers 24 hours before the test and short acting 4 hours before the test, unless you need to use them.
- Functional – Must wear enclosed exercise appropriate shoes and exercise clothing. Please bring a towel and a water bottle.
- Respirator Fit Test: If you have been told you require this test, please ensure you are clean shaven to ensure the mask can be adequately fitted.
- ECG: If you have been told you require an ECG. Please ensure thick chest hair is shaved off prior to your appointment, to ensure correct ECG reading. If required, we may need to patch shave to ensure secure lead placement.
- Urine Sample – You may be required to provide a urine sample for blood, glucose and protein analysis and/or as part of Alcohol & Other Drug screening.
Pathology / Radiology Components
If you have been booked in with a Pathology / Radiology provider, please present your referral form upon arrival at the clinic. Please Note: it is mandatory to attend the Pathology / Radiology provider displayed on your referral
- Fasting Bloods: Do not consume food and fluids other than water for a period of 8-14 hours prior to your blood test.
- Non-Fasting Bloods: Eat and drink as normal, no fasting is required.
- Drug and Alcohol Testing (DAS): Avoid, excessive water consumption, Poppy Seeds, Gum, Mouth Wash & caffeinated drinks such as coffee, coke, energy drinks etc. prior to your assessment.
Note: To adhere to Australian Legislation all Non-Negative Drug test results will be sent for further testing with a NATA accredited Pathology Laboratory (or as per requesting company Drug & Alcohol Policy). Additional GCMS costs will be applied to your final invoice - X-Ray: Avoid excessive usage of lotions, creams or oils, remove all metal objects like jewelry, hairpins or hearing aids.
- CT Scan (HRCT): Don’t eat for four hours before your CT scan, Drink only clear liquids in the two hours leading up to your appointment.
What to Expect at the Assessment?
- 1.You will present to Reception to check-in for your appointment
- 2.You will provide your ID and confirmation, which will be checked by Reception Staff.
- 3.You will complete Privacy& Consent Forms and Medical History Questionnaires
- 4.You will be called in to complete the required testing components of your medical assessment by a Medical Screener. These may include:
- a. Measuring your height, weight, BMI and blood pressure
- b. Testing your Vision (distance, near and colour vision)
- c. Taking your waist, hip, neck or other circumference measurements
- d. Collecting a urine sample for urinalysis and/or Alcohol & Other Drug Screening
- e. Performing a Breath Alcohol Test
- f. Performing Spirometry, Audiometry and/or ECG
- g. Performing a Respirator Fit Test
- h. Completing a Functional, Cardiovascular Fitness or Musculoskeletal Assessment
- i. Requiring pathology collection (blood tests)
- 5. You will be reviewed by a Health Professional for applicable assessments, who will review your history, the tests performed and will complete a physical examination applicable to Occupational Health. The Health Professional may request further information from you to obtain from a relevant Practitioner, or provide other referrals.
- 6. You will complete all other tests that may be required (i.e blood test), or repeat tests if required before your medical will be reviewed by the team prior to your departure.
- 7. You will be permitted to leave once all components have been successfully completed and the medical assessment has been quality reviewed.
Cancellation
- Late Cancellation: Failure to provide 24 business hours’ notice of cancellation will occur a 50% charge of the initial appointment fee.
- Please Note: If the cancellation request has been received with less than 1 hour notice before the appointment our Failure to Attend Policy will be applied.
Failure to Attend
- Failure to Attend: Failure to Attend without notice OR Failure to give more than 1 hour notice will occur a 100% charge of the initial appointment fee.
Late Reschedule
- Late Reschedule: Failure to provide 24 business hours’ notice of your reschedule will occur a 50% charge of the initial appointment fee.
- Please Note: If the reschedule request has been received with less than 1 hour notice before the appointment our Failure to Attend Policy will be applied.
Did Not Complete
- Did Not Complete: Logic Health may terminate components of the medical, at any time, if a medical condition or illness is deemed a risk to a candidate’s health. A Did Not Complete charge will occur 50% charge of the initial appointment fee.
